Letter to the Editor: Parenthood Ads

Dear editor,
Planned Parenthood launched an ad against Congressman Coffman that is in my mind off message.  It shows a girl who lost her sister to suicide due to trauma from being raped 2 years before. While this is a sad story, I see no real tie to Coffman in it.  Coffman is shown to be an insensitive anti women person and his stance is blamed for this young woman’s death in a sense.  Since Coffman is pro-life, this attack is no surprise.  Left activists do this all the time; why is this new news?  I don’t see why Coffman is a ‘dangerous’ choice for women. It is not specific enough to me. Does he really have a bad record on these issues?  It is a squeaky wheel getting heard.   Since Planned Parenthood has such a grip across the country, they are in Colorado push even harder now that they have a foothold. Does this ad even make sense? It seems more to be a mixed message. A question to ask is ‘does planned Parenthood really do any good?’ Some will say they provide crucial care for women.   I invite anyone to take some time to look in to this and they will likely find abortions and the like increase risk of diseases like breast cancer.  To me this group brings much more harm than good to our state and indeed the entire country.  It is more of Planned Parenthood beating their own drum.  In short, I see no solid argument in this attack. An accusation without a solid case is very disgraceful and this needs to change. This ad is not valid to me.
I would now like to turn to the other side. Focus on the Family ran an ad criticizing Senator Bennet. It shows two gay men from Boulder telling of what he has stood for and their support for him because he has ‘pro Boulder values.’ This is much more truthful in what is told. Bennet has indeed stood with President Obama and liberals in Washington and he does support homosexuals. It goes right along with his parties’ agenda in full support. A simple look at his voting record shows this. He opposed banning gays from the military voting for repeal of ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell.’ It all goes with the idea gays have a ‘right’ to marry that liberals tout. It brings a sense of  humor to a quite pointed message. This is proof of Bennet’s true colors. He is behind the left and supports government run healthcare and gun control as well. Does this really help us as citizens? For Christian conservatives, this should serve as strong warning. The end  A fact check would show this ad to be stronger in my mind. Focus on the Family has proven they are committed to helping people; Planned Parenthood has not. To get real messages, requires will to dig in and find facts for oneself; this is a prime example. It shows why our state and country need more engaged citizens.
